A Picture is worth...Part 2

In a previous blog post, I wrote about sorting through a bunch of pictures to send out and get digitized onto a DVD.
Pictures organized and ready to ship
This is what 990 pictures and 10 index cards look like getting ready to be sent to scanmyphotos.com.  I had a Groupon and the box needed to be postmarked no later than September 7th.  I wanted to get it mailed by at least September 1st so it would get there before the 'last minute' Groupon Redemptions were mailed. The box was mailed out on August 31st.  It's on its way to California.

As I organized the photos I came across a series of pictures I took of my older daughter's Invention Convention entry.  She was in 4th grade and decided to create something that would assist her in Gym class. She invented the "Soft Exercise" Pillow.  It was designed to cushion the head while performing curl-ups.  She drew out what she wanted on the computer, colored and printed it, then wrote why she invented this.  She explained how she created it, and results from two testers who used the Soft Exercise Pillow.

The Layout design is from Sketch #7 in the Make It From The Heart Volume 1 booklet. I decided to rotate my design, which shows the example in the bottom layout for that pattern.

This is the left side of the layout.

The letters for the title are from the "You Are My Happy" triple stamp set that can be purchased for $10.00 when you have $50 in qualifying products.  TEN DOLLARS for THREE SHEETS OF STAMPS!!  The letters are about 1/2" high, and they are no larger than 3/4" each.  It's a really nice set and just a cute style.

Uppercase, Lowercase, numbers & punctuation stamps

Here is the right side of the layout:

For this side, I added some of the Proplayer Assortment badge buttons and corrugated cardboard shapes.  Oh, notice that graphic border strip above the two pictures?  That is from the top of the designed papers, called B&T (Background & Texture) Duos.  Each B&T Duos has this 'Zip Strip' on it.  ONE side has information regarding that design, such as the packet name, featured colors, and measurements.  Each border is 12 inches long, by 1/2 inch wide.  The other side of the B&T paper's Zip Strip is artwork which can be a border, or words to cut out individually or leave as a border.  Each Paper Packet comes with 6 sheets of cardstock and 6 sheets of B&T.  So for 6 sheets of B&T, that's 6 Zip Strips (3 designs x 2) that can be used on a variety of projects.  So don't just toss those aside, use them!!

Another element used on this page are the Irresistibles™ Hexagons.  These are thin pre-cut chipboard shapes that have a design coating embedded onto the one side.  When you swipe ink across the shape, it soaks into the paper, but the coated part resists the ink and stays the color of the original chipboard piece.  So with those hexagons, they are originally white.  I swiped Outdoor Denim ink on the two smaller shapes, and Ruby on the larger hexagon.  I attached them using the Bonding Memories Glue®. Just a dab on the back and place it on the page.  As long as this glue is blue, it will be a permanent adhesive.  If it turns CLEAR, then it becomes a temporary (removable) adhesive.  This is some awesome glue to use for paper items!

I was able to create these two pages in about 40 minutes from start to finish. We're talking cutting the paper, attaching, stamping and embellishing it.  I think the journaling took more time because I wanted to make sure not to make any mistakes writing the memories!  It was a lot of fun and now that my pictures are getting more organized, it'll be easier to get them scrapped onto pages, instead of in a box hidden away in a cupboard.

Oh, here are the other two stamp sets included in the September, 2013 special from Close To My Heart.  Again, this TRIPLE stamp set is called "You Are My Happy" (CC1025) and it is only $10 when you purchase $50 in qualifying products.

This is the stamp set sheet that has the phrases on it:

This last sheet has 15 cute stamps available, with a few of them being able to be machine cut using your Cricut machine and the Close To My Heart Art Philosophy cartridge:

These stamps have a lot of detail, as you can see in this card I created using the Proplayer Paper:

The card pattern was found in the Make It From Your Heart Volume 2 booklet. It's pattern #44.

More Pro Player projects coming soon.  If you would like to order any of the products that are underlined, just click on the links and it will take you directly to the page where that item is located.

ONE MORE THING!  The September Stamp Of the Month is just so cute!  It's almost like miniature Subway Art! So once you hit that $50 minimum to get the TRIPLE stamp set for only $10, you  will also be eligible to get this for an additional $5.00.
