Mason Benefit Blog Hop

Welcome to the Mason Benefit Blog Hop.  I'm so glad you are reading this.  Mason is a sweet 3 year old boy who has endured a lot of medical problems from such a young age.

THIS is THE LINK where you can read about young Mason's life.  It was recently updated by his mother, Dana.

We are sending cards of encouragement to Mason and his family to uplift their spirits.

We blog hopping participants' mission was to create an encouragement card with the outside being for Mason and the inside for his parents that will be mailed to the family.

What's nice about THIS blog hop is that YOU, the reader, can participate in this challenge as well!

My Contribution:

I chose to create two items..one for Mason, and one for his parents.
Goodies made for Mason's Benefit Blog
On the left, is a card for his parents that was cut from a file by Loni Stevens from the Silhouette Store. I used K&Company paper from the Jubilee double sided 12x12 paper pad. The card measures 4.25" wide by 5.00" high.

On the right is a small Spiderman coloring book for Mason. This measures 5.25" wide by 7.00" high. The Spiderman graphic I found online, printed and cut it, then attached it with an Action Wobble spring.

Here is the parents' card, closer view:

Parents' card outside
With this card, I outlined the letters with a Sakura Gelly Roll Clear Star dust pen. I lined the background with Close To My Heart paper, added some CTMH Opaques (Pearl) Adhesive Gems, used some CTMH embellishments (brads, button and crocheted flower) adding the Glue Dots miniature size to keep the flowers adhered to the card.

The 3 paper flowers on the right side of the card were die cut using Spellbinders Shapeabilities "Flower Creations Three" on K&Company Paper. The 2 small flowers on the lower left side were die cut from Dies Direct A166 Pretty Petal Thin Metal Die. CTMH Glitter brads and Pewter brads were used to assemble the flowers.

Parents' card inside
Inside the parents' card is the reverse side of the CTMH blue cardstock, and another Spellbinder's flower. I will be adding a short note to them right before I mail the items to the family.

For Mason's goody, I created a small coloring book

Mason's coloring book, outside
using my printer to print out 4 coloring pages I found from around the internet.

I used a Crop-a-Dile to punch holes into the yellow card stock, the blue border and the 4 coloring pages, and added 4 stainless eyelets--to to the back and 2 to the front of the "card" coloring book.

I threaded CTMH 1/4" Grosgrain ribbon (Vineyard Berry) through the eyelets in the back, added the 4 coloring pages, and then through the front, tying a bow.

The Web was cut with my Silhouette SD, Sadie, (graphic is part of of Original designs that come with the Silhouette Studio Software.)

To make the web the color it was, I took a piece of light brown cardstock, and ran 3 colored pencils back and forth on it--black, light brown and dark brown.

Once I was happy with the way it looked, I fed it through my Silhouette SD and cut out 2 spider webs. I ran the better looking one through my Xyron Create-a-Sticker Machine (the 500) so it would adhere to the front of the card.

I found the colorful Spiderman Graphic, copied and traced it in the Silhouette Studio software. I offset the border and peformed a Print N Cut, using the printer for the graphic and the Silhouette for the outline offset border.

I enhanced the Spiderman graphic with Sakura Glaze Pens, using Black, light blue and red. Then attached the graphic to an Action Wobble so it'll move back and forth.

I decorated the bottom of this 'book' with some alphabet stickers I received (Unknown brand.)
